New York and New Jersey have reported their lowest days on record for confirmed coronavirus cases.

New York reported 519 cases of the coronavirus on Sunday, according to the New York State Department of Health. The state had a total of over 407,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus as of Sunday and over 32,000 COVID-19 deaths, the agency said.

At the same time, New York has entered into Phase Four of its reopening plan for nonessential businesses.

The reopening plan now allows higher education and pre-K to grade-12 schools to reopen along with low-risk indoor and outdoor arts and entertainment businesses and media production, professional sports events without fans, and shopping malls.

Through the reopening measures, nonessential businesses that are allowed to reopen will have to follow state guidelines, which include social distancing, face masks, limited workforces, and training. Malls, in particular, will have to limit customers, monitor the flow of traffic, and close or modify amenities where applicable, such as food courts and rest areas.

New Jersey also reported low numbers of coronavirus cases over the weekend, with 363 confirmed cases of the virus on Sunday, according to the New Jersey Department of Health. The state has nearly 177,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus and over 13,700 COVID-19 deaths as of Sunday, according to the agency.

New Jersey’s numbers have decreased amid a statewide face mask mandate in public spaces where social distancing cannot be observed.
