New York Teacher Stalks Teenage Student On Social Media Amid Coronavirus Lockdown, Charged

A substitute teacher in White Plains, New York, was handed charges for exacting humiliation on a 17-year-old female student during the coronavirus lockdown.

Craig Rosenberg, 56, a teacher at the White Plains High School was accused of sending inappropriate and “non-school-related” texts to the unidentified student, on top of sending direct messages which made her “feel uncomfortable,” Daily Voice reported, citing Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr.

The girl asked Rosenberg to stop, even blocked him from all her social media accounts, and alerted her parents. The parents reported his alleged conduct to the White Plains Police Department, who gave him a warning initially.

Rosenberg grew adamant and approached the victim’s friends, who were also students, to help reestablish contact with her. He was arrested Wednesday (May 27) by White Plains Police officers under a misdemeanor fourth-degree stalking charge, according to the publication.

Rosenberg was arraigned remotely via a video conference with Westchester County Court. He was released without bail following the court session. The teacher is due for a court appearance on June 16 to respond to the charges. He had previously resigned from his post over the allegations.

“The White Plains City School District will always protect the health, safety, and welfare of our students, and we will always work closely with the White Plains Police Department to ensure that any allegation of inappropriate conduct is immediately investigated,” the school district superintendent, Joseph Ricca, said in a statement.

Last week, an Idaho teacher was arrested and placed on administrative leave for sexually assaulting a student. The unidentified 17-year-old victim told cops that 51-year-old Patrick Smith grabbed her and pulled her onto his lap, saying she aroused him and he had to “deal with it all day.” The accused allegedly groped and kissed the victim a few days later and kept on assaulting her over a period of time without her consent. He was later charged with felony sexual battery on a minor.
