Newborn Mauled To Death By Stray Dog Inside Hospital's Operation Theater Minutes After Birth

A newborn baby was mauled to death by a stray dog inside the operation theater of a hospital in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on Monday.

According to local reports, the child’s mother, Kanchan, was rushed to Akash Ganga Hospital on Monday morning after she experienced stomach pain. Medical examination revealed that the woman had to undergo a cesarean procedure. An hour after the mother was taken to the operation theater, her husband, Ravi Kumar, was informed that the surgery was successful and that his wife had given birth to a baby boy. He was also informed that the baby was in the operation theater and his wife was shifted to a ward.

Minutes later, the hospital staff came running out of the operation theater and started screaming that a dog has entered the room. Kumar immediately ran into the room and saw his son lying in a pool of blood with bite marks on his chest and eye.

Speaking to local daily the Times of India, Kumar said he confronted the hospital staff and doctors about the incident “but instead of feeling guilty, they offered me money and asked me to remain silent over the incident .”

A police complaint was filed against the owner of the hospital and the staff was charged with “death by negligence.” Investigation into the incident was ongoing.
