Neymar Receives Warning From Brazil Icon Involving Barcelona, Real Madrid Transfer: Report

Former Barcelona defender Dani Alves has fired a warning to Neymar involving La Liga giants Real Madrid and the Catalans.

Alves has asked his fellow Brazilian Neymar to choose sensibly between Barcelona and Real Madrid amid the player’s links to a possible move to Santiago Bernabeu ahead of the summer transfer window. Neymar, who had moved from Brazil’s Santos to Nou Camp in 2013, played alongside Alves at Barcelona until 2016 when the defender moved to Juventus.

In an interview with Catalunya Radio, Alves has suggested that Neymar would have the time of life and be happy at Nou Camp, while only money would be an attracting factor if he chose to move to Real Madrid, a club that had also tried to sign the Brazilian playmaker in 2013.

"To make it very clear, that people talk a lot of things that have nothing to do with it. The only one whom I have tried to convince to go to Barcelona is Neymar. The rest, I have not convinced anyone that he was or that he goes from there," Alves told Catalunya Radio.

"The last time I convinced someone to go to Barcelona was Neymar, and you can ask him or whoever you want. If you have a mega-important offer from Real Madrid ... I said it of course if you want money go to Real Madrid and if you want to be happy, go to Barça," Alves continued.

Even though Real Madrid reportedly may be planning to chase Neymar this summer and can afford his $196 million price tag, the current PSG player has repeatedly expressed his desire to return to Barcelona. It has also been reported that Neymar has rejected a lucrative contract extension with the French side.

Neymar registered a superb partnership with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez as a part of Barcelona’s front three before his association infamously had ended with the Catalan club in the middle of 2017’s pre-season. Neymar, who was aware that he would always be in Messi’s shadow at Nou Camp, agreed to move to PSG, who triggered his buyout clause of $239m to make him the most expensive soccer player in the world.
