NFL 2020 Week 7 Predictions: Best Over/Under Picks, Betting Totals
The Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints have played in the highest-scoring games, on average, through the first six weeks of the 2020 NFL season. The Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos and New York Giants play in the lowest-scoring contests.
Here are the five best over/under picks in Week 7. Betting totals are courtesy of OddsShark.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Tennessee Titans Over 50.5
The Steelers and Titans are two of the top four scoring teams in the NFL, averaging a combined 64 points per game. Pittsburgh has been incredibly consistent, putting up at least 26 points in every single contest. Ben Roethlisberger hasn’t posted a passer rating below 98.7 in any game, and Ryan Tannehill has managed to play even better. Tennessee’s quarterback has picked up where he left off in 2019, continuing to play at a Pro-Bowl level.
Carolina Panthers vs. New Orleans Saints Over 51
Even after an underwhelming performance against a good Bears’ defense, the Panthers still rank 11th in both total offense and yards per play. The Saints have given up at least 27 points in four straight games, and all five of their games have featured at least 54 total points. New Orleans totaled 76 points in their two matchups with Carolina last season.
San Francisco 49ers vs. New England Patriots Under 43.5
San Francisco’s inexplicable blowout loss in Miami was its only game that featured more than 45 total points. In three matchups with teams that currently rank better than 29th in opponents’ yards per play, New England’s games are averaging 32.7 total points. Only five starting quarterbacks have a worse passer rating than Cam Newton. Bill Belichick might have some kind of edge against his former quarterback. The 49ers and Patriots both rank in the top nine in total defense.
Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals Under 56
This is a very high total, especially when you consider the Cardinals rank second in scoring defense. None of Arizona’s six games have featured more than 52 total points. Each of Seattle’s last two contests featured fewer than 55 points, and the Seahawks’ defense is better than it showed in September. Pete Carroll has had two weeks to prepare for Kyler Murray, who only averaged 213 yards passing and rushing in two matchups with Seattle last season.
Chicago Bears vs. Los Angeles Rams Under 45
Most statistics indicate that Los Angeles and Chicago are among the NFL’s best defenses. Both the Bears and Rams rank in the top seven in total defense, points allowed and opponents’ yards per play. Chicago is averaging 18 points per game in Nick Foles’ three starts. In its two matchups with teams that rank better than 19th in scoring defense, LA was held to 17 points and 16 points.
