NFL 2020 Week 8 Predictions: Best Over/Under Picks, Betting Totals
Most games have gone over the betting total through seven weeks in the 2020 NFL season. The Las Vegas Raiders, Cleveland Browns, New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans could all be part of that trend continuing in Week 8.
Here are the five best over/under picks in Week 8. Betting totals are courtesy of OddsShark.
Las Vegas Raiders at Cleveland Browns Over 49.5
Both of these teams routinely score a ton of points and play very little defense. The Raiders average 28.5 points per game and haven’t been held below 20 points in any contest. The Browns have given up at least 20 points each week, allowing 31.6 points per game. Cleveland scores 28.5 points per game, and they’ll take on a Las Vegas defense that surrenders 32.8 points per game. The Browns have scored at least 34 points in all four matchups with teams that rank outside of the top-six in scoring defense.
New Orleans Saints at Chicago Bears Over 43
Chicago’s offense has struggled with Nick Foles under center, but the team might finally have some success moving the ball against New Orleans. The Saints have given up at least 23 points in every single game. New Orleans’ secondary continues to get torched, allowing a 111.6 passer rating to opposing quarterbacks. Even with Michael Thomas missing time and Drew Brees’ limitations, the Saints’ offense has been automatic, scoring at least 24 points each week.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens Under 46.5
There typically isn’t a ton of points scored in this rivalry. Pittsburgh and Baltimore have totaled 40 points or fewer in four of their last six meetings. The two teams needed overtime to go over 46 points last year when Lamar Jackson had the worst performance of his MVP campaign. Jackson had 161 passing yards, three interceptions and a 54.9 passer rating in his one start against Pittsburgh. The Steelers and Ravens are giving up 37 points per game combined.
Tennessee Titans at Cincinnati Bengals Over 52
Tennessee puts up points against every team, and Cincinnati will be no exception. The Titans are averaging 34.4 points over their last five games. Derrick Henry is the league-leading rusher by a wide margin, and Ryan Tannehill has a 112.3 passer rating. The Bengals have given up an average of 29.7 points in their last six games. Cincinnati has scored at least 23 points in five of those contests. Tennessee has surrendered at least 27 points in five of its last six games.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Giants Under 45
New York could have trouble finding the end zone even once against Tampa Bay. The Giants are second-to-last in total offense and scoring, ranking only ahead of the winless Jets. The team has only scored more than 21 points against the Cowboys, who give up more points than anyone. Daniel Jones averages 201 passing yards per game, and starting left guard Will Hernandez is on the COVID-19 list. The Bucs lead the NFC in sacks and might have the best secondary in football. Tampa Bay is first in opponents’ yards per play and total defense.
