NFL 2022 Week 1 Lines: Spread Movement For Cowboys, Chiefs, Patriots, Browns
Betting Lines for Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season have been available since the schedule was released in May. Some of the point spreads changed over the course of the offseason, and there has been even more line movement for several games in recent days.
Week 1 spread changes have made the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins bigger favorites. No favorite has been affected by recent line movement more than the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs were 3.5-point favorites on the road against the Arizona Cardinals Tuesday morning. By Thursday, Arizona was a six-point underdog at DraftKings Sportsbook.
Patrick Mahomes is 4-0 with 13 touchdown passes and no interceptions in Week 1 games.
The Cardinals fell apart at the end of last season. They lost four of their final five games before being blown out by the Los Angeles Rams 34-11 on Wild-Card Weekend in the first round of the playoffs. Arizona's offseason wasn't much better. Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins received a six-game suspension for using performance-enhancing drugs. Kyler Murray's "independent study" contract clause created a controversy regarding the team's franchise quarterback.
The first "Sunday Night Football" matchup of the year has seen a notable point spread change. Tampa Bay opened as a 1.5-point favorites against the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys are 2.5-point underdogs at home.
Oddsmakers don't seem concerned that Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady was away from the team for much of the preseason. Dallas will be without its starting left tackle and No. 2 wide receiver because of injuries. Quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and running back Ezekiel Elliott are all ready to go for Dallas.
The Dolphins are 3.5-point favorites over the visiting New England Patriots. Miami had been favored by a field goal, and some sportsbook had the line at 2.5 points.
The Patriots finished ahead of the Dolphins by one game last season to earn a wild-card berth in the playoffs. After adding wide receiver Tyreek Hill and a few starting offensive linemen in the offseason, Miami is now a popular pick to surpass New England as the second-best team in the AFC East.
The Cleveland Browns are down to 1.5-point underdogs against the Carolina Panthers. Carolina had been laying 2,5 points earlier in the week for Baker Mayfield's first game against his former team.
The Indianapolis Colts are seven-point favorites against the Houston Texans. The betting line had previously been eight points, the highest on the Week 1 schedule.
