KEY POINTS

  • The Dallas Cowboys have made major moves in terms of their roster this offseason
  • Projections have the Cowboys ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles in terms of production in their wide receivers
  • CeeDee Lamb is expected to be a star wide receiver for the Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are one of the most hyped teams entering the coming season. As the anticipation of the games’ resumption arises, the projections rank the Cowboys over the Philadelphia Eagles in terms of their wide receivers.

Coming off an 8-8 record in their 2019 campaign, the Cowboys are determined to make massive improvements in the coming year. While the Cowboys failed to qualify for the playoffs before, the team now has more tools to improve their performance moving forward.

The hype that surrounds the team has them ranked above their NFC East opponents in terms of their expected production from the wide receivers department. The Cowboys were able to develop their offense in the recently concluded NFL draft.

It came as a surprise to everyone how the talented CeeDee Lamb fell so far off and somehow ended up with the Cowboys. With the 17th overall pick, Dallas was able to secure one of the biggest prospects of this year’s rookie class.

Couple this selection with the additional improvements Dallas made in the offseason has propelled the Cowboys to a league favorite. The addition of veteran quarterback Andy Dalton also gives an additional boost for the Cowboys’ offense. The signal-caller duo of Dak Prescott and Dalton as a backup can serve well for talents such as Lamb.

This is a major upgrade as supposed to their division rivals the Eagles. The latest predictions of Sports Illustrated have the Eagles last in the NFC East in terms of wide receiver production. This is largely due to the fact that DeSean Jackson has had a history with core-muscle injuries.

“You saw the impact [of Jackson] in Week 1 last season,” said a former scout.

“There would be a domino effect up and down the group if he’s out there,” the scout added.

This serves as a problem for the Eagles as the Cowboys continue to develop their offense. The caliber of someone like Lamb is scouted to be elite and serves as an additional weapon for Dallas. Coming out of the Oklahoma Sooners football program, Lamb is projected to become a star wide receiver.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Cowboys take advantage of the situation and if the Eagles can overcome these predictions by the time the season starts.
