NFL Injury News: Cooper Kupp, Eagles Starter To Miss Several Games
There were a couple of significant injuries to offensive players in Week 10 that could have serious ramifications for the 2022 NFL season. Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp and Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert are both expected to miss a significant amount of time.
The Rams are the defending Super Bowl champions, and Kupp is easily their best offensive player. The Eagles are the Super Bowl favorites in the NFC, and Goedert is second on the team with 544 receiving yards.
Kupp is undergoing surgery after he suffered a high ankle sprain in Los Angeles' Week 10 loss against the Arizona Cardinals. The receiver has been placed on injured reserve and will miss at least four weeks.
If the Rams don't turn their season around, the team could keep Kupp off the field for the remainder of the season. By losing to the Cardinals, the Rams fell to 3-6 for sole possession of last place in the NFC West. Without Kupp, Los Angeles' offense, which is ranked second-to-last in football, is likely to struggle even more.
Kupp is the reigning Offensive Player of Year. Coming off a 1,947-yard season, Kupp is fifth in the league with 812 receiving yards. No other Rams player even has more than 385 receiving yards this season.
Matthew Stafford missed the Rams' last game because he was in concussion protocol and is in danger of sitting against the New Orleans Saints in Week 11.
The Eagles are five games ahead of the Rams for the best record in the conference. During Philadelphia's first loss of the season Monday night, Goedert suffered a shoulder injury that will keep him off the field for an extended period of time, according to NFL.com.
Goedert has been a key part of the Eagles' offense. Philadelphia leads the NFC in points per game and yards per game. Jalen Hurts is considered to be one of the top MVP candidates.
Following their first loss of the season, the Eagles' lead atop the NFC East is down to one game over the New York Giants. Philadelphia visits the Indianapolis Colts in Week 11.
