NFL News: Eagles, Saints Swap Picks To Address Manpower Needs

The Philadelphia Eagles and New Orleans Saints have reportedly agreed to swap multiple picks as both teams continue to find ways to fill in open roster spots.

In a report from NBC Sports, the Eagles will reportedly send their 16th, 19th, and 194th picks in this year’s NFL Draft to New Orleans.

In exchange, the Saints will be sending their 18th, 101st, and 237th picks as well as a 2023 first-round pick and a 2024 second-round pick.

Philadelphia will thus hold the rights to the 15th and 18th overall pick in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The Eagles will now also have additional picks with the 101st selection giving them two third-rounders this season.

The Eagles will also become the fifth team to acquire an extra first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

For the Saints, they will still have the 98th overall pick aside from two first-round selections and the 49th overall selection.

Both teams have mustered enough draft capital in the event of manpower changes happens.

For the Eagles, it is insurance if Jalen Hurts fails to perform accordingly.

The deal with the Eagles was not the only one the Saints secured.

In a report from Adam Schefter, New Orleans has also signed Justin Evans according to his agent Kevin Conner.

Evans is reportedly now healthy after sitting out last season due to a toe and Achilles injury that dates back to 2018.

The Wiggins, Mississippi native has signed a one-year deal with the Saints.

The 26-year-old started his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but struggled through injuries.

He was in the final year of a four-year deal with the Bucs that was worth $5.19 million, where he was set to make a base salary of $1.17 million in 2020 when he was waived.

With the Buccaneers, Evans started 21 games in his first two seasons before getting injured.

He has 125 tackles, four interceptions, and eight pass breakups in his NFL career.
