An NFL prospect who reportedly has as powerful hands as Mike Tyson vowed to prove his doubters wrong.

In this year’s NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions aren't likely to have a shot at drafting Ohio State defensive end Chase Young with the no. 3 pick. The scenario closest to reality remains Washington staying in that spot to Young. Assuming the Lions don't break the bank a second straight year in free agency and Young out of the picture, the team needs to take a closer look at the pool and find another option.

Fortunately, Alabama's Terrell Lewis, a high-risk, high-reward option presents a solid solution should he makes it to Detroit in the second round. Although he's on the opposite squad, the Lions are reportedly getting an up-close look at Lewis while coaching at the Senior Bowl this week.

According to Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy, Lewis is a naturally gifted athlete with hands as strong as legendary boxer “Iron Mike” Tyson.

"Terrell Lewis is almost impossible to give a player comp for because he's got that long, stringy body, but then he's got like Mike Tyson hands,” Nagy told The Detroit News.

Despite having quite a promising future in the NFL, injuries have riddled Lewis’ career at the University of Alabama. The linebacker has faced criticism for his consistency and durability. However, Lewis remained focused on his game even sent his doubters a strong message via social media.

“I can’t wait to make the doubters eat their words,” Lewis wrote.

Due to his versatility as a player, Lewis has caught the attention of the Houston Texans. Just before the coronavirus pandemic stopped all visits to NFL facilities, the Texans were able to meet with Lewis at the Reeses Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine.

The 21-year-old met with the Texans staff, which included Bill O'Brien, the defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, outside linebacker coach Chris Rumph and inside linebacker coach Bobby King.

Lewis recently spoke to Sports Talk 790’s “In the Trenches with N.D. Kalu and Chris Gordy” to discuss a few details from the contact with the Texans. As per Lewis, he and the Texans were at the Senior Bowl, but they also had another meeting at the NFL Combine. Thus far, the future looks good for Lewis as the Texans apparently like what they see in him, Sports Illustrated reported.

"They even talked to me at the combine, where they kind of told me they love what they see and what they see on film. They like the player that I am. Getting to talk to them and meet some of their staff, they definitely like me,” Lewis revealed.
