Some of the NFL’s top quarterbacks have been at the center of trade rumors, including a seemingly untouchable superstar. Seattle Seahawks starter Russell Wilson has drawn interest around from the league.

A couple of teams have asked the Seahawks about Wilson’s availability, NFL.com reports. Wilson said on “The Dan Patrick Show” Tuesday that he definitely believes teams have called Seattle about potentially trading for him.

Wilson is not thought to be available, though it’s noteworthy that multiple teams seem to think there’s at least a small chance the Seahawks might be open to trade talks.

According to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, Wilson’s camp is frustrated with Seattle’s inability to protect him. The 32-year-old has been sacked 394 times in his nine NFL seasons. Wilson has been sacked at least 47 times in each of the last three years.

Wilson told Patrick that he wants to be involved in team decisions. Before Deshaun Watson requested a trade from the Houston Texans, it was reported that Watson was not consulted on key decisions, including hiring a new general manager.

Wilson has three years left on a four-year, $140 million contract. Trading Wilson before June 1 would trigger a $39 million dead cap for Seattle, according to ProFootballTalk.

Regardless of his contract, Seattle is unlikely to consider trading Wilson anytime soon. He’s a consensus top-five quarterback and his career 101.7 passer rating ranks fourth all time.

Since being drafted by Seattle in 2012, Wilson has started every game. He has eight Pro Bowl selections and eight playoff appearances. Wilson and Seattle won Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014 before losing the next year’s Super Bowl.

The Seahawks were defeated by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2021 wild-card round. In 2020, Wilson threw for 4,212 yards, 40 touchdowns, 13 interceptions and a 105.1 passer rating.

Quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff have already been swapped this offseason. Carson Wentz could be next, while the Texans are expecting to deal Watson.
