There is no question that Tom Brady has accomplished a lot in his NFL career, and for most of those moments, Rob Gronkowski was around to witness it with his close friend.

Although his own NFL future remains uncertain, the 32-year-old tight end recently took the time to congratulate Brady after the latter was awarded the Laureus Lifetime Achievement Award. It is an honor given to individuals who’ve made a significant contribution to the world of sports.

Gronkowski sent his good friend a special message in which he joked about how Brady has been playing for nearly an entire lifetime.

“Tom deserves to win this Lifetime Achievement Award because he’s been playing for nearly an entire lifetime, so he deserves a lifetime award. It only makes sense,” Gronkowski stated. “On a serious note, Tom is the absolute best at what he does.”

The four-time Super Bowl champion went on to praise Brady, adding that he has great respect for his 44-year-old friend.

“He's an exceptional player on and off the field. He's dedicated to the game, constantly working to improve himself and others, each and every day, and he's always working to put the team in the best possible position to succeed each year, year in and year out. I have a great deal of respect for him as a person and as a friend,” Gronkowski said.

“Congrats, Tommy. You’re a lifetime achiever. Let’s go,” he added.

Brady has held off retirement to play another NFL season. Although he is contracted with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, there have been rumors claiming that he could be moving to another NFL team.

As for Gronkowski, the 2014 NFL Comeback Player of the Year’s plans remain murky. The Buccaneers are waiting on the 32-year-old five-time Pro Bowler to decide whether he plans to return or retire.

One person who is waiting on Gronkowski’s decision is new Bucs head coach Todd Bowles.

“It’s up in the air right now, but I feel OK about it,” Bowles said, via Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times. “There are still things to work out, and we’ll see what the draft brings and we’ll keep working with those guys, as well.”

Despite uncertainty surrounding Gronkowski’s plans, the four-time First-team All-Pro is making sure he remains in shape. He has been working out with Derrick Henry, and this has spurred the belief that he could be returning next NFL season.

For now, the only thing certain is that Gronkowski is enjoying the offseason. An update could come out after the 2022 NFL Draft or possibly once the new season nears.
