NFL Rumors: New York Jets, Miami Dolphins Remain Interested In Logan Ryan
KEY POINTS
- Logan Ryan has served as a pivotal piece in the Tennessee Titans' underdog run in last year's NFL playoffs
- The New York Jets are reportedly the frontrunners for Logan Ryan
- An additional option for Logan Ryan is the Miami Dolphins as a possible destination
The status of Logan Ryan in free agency has a new development with the Miami Dolphins reportedly garnering interest in the cornerback. The Dolphins join the New York Jets as potential landing spots for the former first-team All-American.
It was reported before that the Jets are a possible fit for Ryan. Coming from a strong 2019 campaign, Ryan was able to tally a career-best of 113 tackles and 4.5 sacks. It was his consistent contribution that played a key part for the Tennessee Titans in their historic underdog run in last year’s postseason.
“To my Titans Teammates: I love all y’all. Being a leader and earning y’all respect is what meant most to me. Win or lose we stuck together and backed down from no one,” Ryan wrote on his Instagram page.
Having someone like Ryan can help improve the Jets as they're coming off a 7-9 record in last year's team standings. Key players such as Pierre Desire and Brian Poole could use the boost that Ryan gives to any squad.
There have been reports circulating already that the Jets are the possible frontrunners for Ryan but Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network shared that the Dolphins are still within the race.
“There is no formal offer to Ryan just yet and the Dolphins are in play as well. They have been talking with Ryan. I do think in the end he winds up a Jet, we’re not quite there yet so we’ll so how it goes from here,” Garafolo said.
The possible addition of Ryan can deepen the Dolphins’ roster entering the coming season. Despite failing to make the postseason last year with a fourth-place finish in the AFC East, Miami has found ways to retool their team over the draft. One of the biggest names of this year’s rookie class is Tua Tagovailoa as the Dolphins were able to pick him as the fifth overall selection.
Despite Tagovailoa’s immense talent, one big concern looming over him is his history with injuries. But with the leadership presence of Ryan in the locker room, the veteran may provide enough guidance to the rookie.
It will only be a matter of time until Ryan finds a new roster spot in the league and hopefully add the same energy he brings to the field.
