NFL Rumors: Oakland Raiders Looking At Quarterbacks, Cleveland Browns Expected To Make Trade
As NFL players report for offseason programs, teams are still looking to make improvements to their rosters for the upcoming season. The 2019 NFL Draft is only a few weeks away, and impactful players remain on the trade block.
Few teams have bigger decisions to make than the Oakland Raiders. After trading Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper, Oakland has three picks in the first round. That includes the No.4 overall pick, and the Raiders’ selection could potentially shake up the early part of the draft.
Despite having Derek Carr under contract, the Raiders are considering drafting their quarterback of the future. Oakland is reportedly working out Kyler Murray Monday, and they'll get a closer look at Ohio State's Dwayne Haskins Tuesday. The two quarterbacks are expected to go very early in the draft.
There's a good chance Murray will be gone by the time Oakland is up. There are plenty of rumors that the Arizona Cardinals will take the Heisman Trophy winner with the first overall pick. Neither the San Francisco 49ers at No.2 overall or the New York Jets at No.3 overall need a quarterback, but a team that is looking for a signal caller could trade up to make sure they snag Murray or Haskins ahead of the Raiders.
The Cleveland Browns have already traded their first-round pick, sending the No.17 overall selection to the New York Giants in the blockbuster trade for Odell Beckham. New York also has the No.6 overall selection, likely giving them enough ammo to trade up and make sure they get Haskins if they choose to do so.
Cleveland also traded for former Giants' pass rusher Olivier Vernon earlier in the offseason. That deal has made Emmanuel Ogbah expendable, and according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, he's expected to be traded.
Ogbah had three sacks for the Browns last season. He's recorded 12.5 sacks with the team since being drafted in the second round three years ago.
