NFL Rumors: Super Bowl Win, Brady Will Keep Brown From Exploring Other Teams
KEY POINTS
- Antonio Brown plans to return with the Bucs next NFL season
- Brown is grateful for the opportunity given to him by the Buccs
- Tom Brady will most likely help in re-signing the wide receiver
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won at the recently-concluded Super Bowl LV, but the limelight has been on Tom Brady.
Considering he is one of the senior statesmen on the team, it was some sort of vindication for the 43-year-old play-caller.
However, other side stories also drew prominence, particularly Antonio Brown.
The 32-year-old went through a lot during the 2020 NFL offseason. That includes being suspended for eight weeks due to multiple violations of the league’s personal-conduct policy.
When no team picked him up, it was the Buccs who gave him a chance. Recall that he had just come off a stint with the New England Patriots, the same team where Brady and Rob Gronkowski came from.
By October 2020, he found himself in a similar situation once more. He was given a chance, a one year deal to prove his worth.
That move proved to be rewarding, giving the Florida native a new lease on life. With Brady and Gronkowski in the fold, the writing was all on the wall.
Brown’s move to the Bucs paid off. He is now officially a Super Bowl champion, and the logical next step is to re-sign with Tampa Bay next season and possibly win another, NBC reported.
“Man I’d love to, I look forward to going through the process, this is a great spot for me and I would love to come back and give it another shot at a 2-peat," he stated. "I would love to be back here next year. It would mean everything to be back. I’m just excited and super grateful."
But it gets sweeter. Brown has the backing of Brady, and the Buccaneer’s management are likely to offer him a new deal in the offseason.
The three-time Pro Bowler is due to hit free agency but expected to stay in Tampa Bay.
"A.B., since he got here, he's done everything the right way. So impressed by him, proud of him," Brady said. "It takes a lot of people for us to get to this point. We all have great support systems in place and I think everybody should be celebrating them tonight."
