KEY POINTS

  • The sporting world may have not heard the last of Tim Tebow
  • Tebow is known for not making decisions based on fear of failure
  • Tebow's NFL return is seen as a marketing gimmick

Tim Tebow is officially out of the NFL scene after he was cut by the Jacksonville Jaguars recently.

It was seen more as a favor coming from Jags coach Urban Meyer with the 34-year-old trying his luck at being a tight-end.

As skeptics anticipated, a shift from quarterback to tight-end was pretty questionable. All that was confirmed when the Jaguars released Tebow as part of the Jaguars' first-round roster cuts, ESPN reported.

Could this be the end of Tebow’s NFL return plans? It could possibly be. But one thing that only a few people know is that he will never be afraid of trying and failing.

Tebow made that clear in a tweet, pointing out the highs and lows of his life. He never made decisions out of fear of failure and is just appreciative of getting opportunities.

"Thankful for the highs and even the lows, the opportunities, and the setbacks," Tebow tweeted. "I’ve never wanted to make decisions out of fear of failure and I’m grateful for the chance to have pursued a dream."

However, the question up in the air is what will the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner’s next step be after being cut by the Jaguars.

There is no denying that Tebow is a popular figure, a reason why pundits feel that teams want him for marketing-related purposes.

That was the reason some saw as to why he got the chance to make an NFL return with the Jaguars.

One person who believed that there was another underlying purpose is beat reporter Matt Maiocco when he appeared on the Sports For All PH podcast hosted by Vincent Juico and Brian Yalung.

“It will be because hey we can sell more merchandise. We can sell Tim Tebow jerseys. It will be Urban Meyer [like,] 'Hey, let’s do a favor for this guy. Let’s bring more buzz to this organization,'” Maiocco stated.

However, Maiocco admitted that Tebow is lucky to be getting the opportunities.

“I just think that at this point in his life, he has been given way too many opportunities that normal people don’t get,” Maiocco said.
