NFL Rumors: Three Potential Landing Spots For Carolina Panthers Quarterback
KEY POINTS
- Teddy Bridgewater could be an ideal fit for the Houston Texans
- Bridgewater's exit is more likely to happen with Sam Darnold's arrival in Carolina
- Bridgewater may address the big void of Washington as their playmaker
There is no telling what the future holds for Teddy Bridgewater of the Carolina Panthers.
He is due $17.9 million in 2021, and there is a chance he may not return. A reason for this is that other NFL teams could pitch something tempting to the Panthers, a possibility that may have become more of a reality following the addition of Sam Darnold.
As reported by ESPN, the addition of Darnold is seen as an upgrade from Bridgewater.
The New York Jets traded Darnold to the Panthers in exchange for three draft picks. It was a surprising move in the eyes of pundits, considering the 23-year-old was previously hailed as the team’s savior.
Last NFL season was not particularly good for Bridgewater, a reason why NFL trade rumors have been cropping up. He threw for 3,733 yards but had only 15 touchdowns along with 11 interceptions.
Adding Darnold may not immediately catapult the Panthers to the Super Bowl but was the best option that Carolina had to deal with right now.
Hence, the attention now shifts to Bridgewater who could be shipped out. Three teams would make sense for the Pro Bowler.
Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears have been often linked to quarterbacks available in the NFL market. They already have Andy Dalton and Nick Foles, but anything is possible.
Though Bridgewater has shown promise, the Bears could consider a trade for him although the chances of that are slim in the eyes of critics.
Washington Football
One team that is in dire need of a quarterback in Washington.
Though they won the NFC East last season, it remains that they do not have a solid play-caller. They do have names like Alex Smith, Dwayne Haskins and Kyle Allen, but checking out Bridgewater could be a good move.
Houston Texans
The Houston Texans have yet to settle the score with Deshaun Watson.
The 25-year-old may be having his share of problems off the football field right now although it is no secret that he will want out.
If the Texans do decide to trade him away, Bridgewater could be a plausible choice to take his place for the coming NFL season.
