Tom Brady is undoubtedly set to become one of the greatest players the NFL has ever seen although he enters a new season with something new. In the past, the 41-year-old quarterback would enter a new season with a new deal over the horizon but it appears that is no longer the case. Age has something to do with it although the 199th pick of the 2000 NFL Draft wants to play until he is 45.

It will be interesting if this will factor in on Brady and the New England Patriots for the 2019-20 NFL season. Last month, he told reporters that he did not want to discuss anything about his contract as he seems bent on focusing on the task at hand, USA Today reported. If not through words, his performance for the Pats this coming season could give NFL fans and followers an inkling if Brady is indeed bothered or not.

Not even Patriots coach Bill Belichick can provide some answers on Brady and his contract situation, NFL.com reported. As things loom right now, the six-time Super Bowl champion will likely worry about his contract next season. If he proves that he can still weave his magic on the field, chances are he will be dangled another lucrative contract. As to how long, it could be short-term. That means either a one-year or two-year contract, depending on how he keeps up with his teammates this NFL season.

As far as Brady becoming a free agent is concerned, it will be interesting to see as well if other teams will come trying to pitch something. In the same report, it was also mentioned how the Patriots have been known to get deals done even later in the summer. Hence, something could happen during the coming NFL season or even until the offseason.

The Pats will likely weigh his health and efficiency and do the inevitable. If Brady shows signs of slowing down, New England may need to accept the fact that they need to invest in a new quarterback - even if Brady claims he can play a couple of more years.
