The Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans have agreed to a blockbuster trade. According to multiple reports, Arizona will send running back David Johnson and draft picks to Houston in exchange for wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and draft compensation.

The Cardinals will reportedly receive a fourth-round draft pick in the deal. The Texans will get a 2020 second-rounder and a 2021 fourth-rounder.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Houston didn’t feel like it could afford to pay Hopkins. The receiver has three years and nearly $40 million left on his contract. Arizona is expected to give him a new deal.

The Cardinals didn’t want to pay Johnson at his current price, according to Schefter. Johnson is owed $20 million over the next two seasons.

Johnson signed a three-year, $39 million contract at the start of the 2018 season. The running back has totaled 1,285 rushing yards, 816 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns over the last two years.

Johnson was a 2016 First-Team All-Pro selection. He hasn’t made the Pro Bowl since then.

Hopkins is among the NFL’s best receivers. He’s had at least 104 catches in two straight seasons with three straight years of no fewer than 1,165 yards.

Hopkins has missed two games in his seven-year career, averaging 90 receptions, 1,229 yards and eight touchdowns per season. He’s been a First-Team All-Pro selection in three consecutive seasons.

Houston has won the AFC South in four of the last five seasons. Deshaun Watson will have a new No.1 target in 2020.

Arizona went 5-10-1 last season. No.1 overall draft pick Kyler Murray made every start at quarterback and was named the 2019 Offensive Rookie of the Year.
