NFL Standings 2020: Chiefs, Saints In Playoffs; Giants, Packers Among Division Leaders
Week 13 isn’t quite over, but a pair of teams are already guaranteed to reach the postseason. The New Orleans Saints (10-2) and Kansas City Chiefs (11-1) clinched the first two playoff spots of the 2020 NFL season Sunday with victories over division rivals.
New Orleans officially locked up a postseason berth by defeating the Atlanta Falcons (4-8), extending its NFC South lead over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-5) to three games. It was the Saints’ third straight win with Taysom Hill as the starting quarterback. New Orleans is one game ahead of the Green Bay Packers (9-3) for the top seed in the conference.
Kansas City held off the Denver Broncos (4-8) on “Sunday Night Football,” maintaining a four-game lead in the AFC West. The Chiefs are a half-game off the pace in the race for the top seed in the AFC behind the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers (11-0), who can clinch a playoff bid tonight with a win over Washington (4-7).
The NFC West is the only division that saw a team fall out of first place in Week 13. The Seattle Seahawks (8-4) lost their spot in the standings when they were upset by the New York Giants (5-7) and backup quarterback Colt McCoy. New York has emerged as the top team in the NFC East with a four-game winning streak.
The Los Angeles Rams (8-4) beat the Arizona Cardinals (6-6) to take over first place in the NFC West. The Minnesota Vikings (6-6) replaced Arizona as the frontrunners for the conference’s final wild-card team. Green Bay leads Minnesota by three games atop the NFC North. The Packers are a game behind the Saints for the top seed in the conference.
Two AFC division races are looking like they might come down to the final week of the season. The Tennessee Titans (8-4) own the tiebreaker for first place over the Indianapolis Colts (8-4) in the AFC South. The Buffalo Bills (8-3) are a half-game ahead of the Miami Dolphins (8-4) in the AFC East with a “Monday Night Football” matchup against the San Francisco 49ers (5-6) pending.
The Cleveland Browns (9-3) have the best record of any wild-card team in the Week 13 playoff picture after upsetting the Titans on Sunday
