KEY POINTS

  • The Broncos hold plans of waiving DaeSean Hamilton
  • Hamilton may play better if he is picked up by a new team
  • The Broncos now have a stacked wide receiver lineup, making Hamilton dispensable

DaeSean Hamilton is sitting on pins and needles right now as he awaits his fate.

The wide receiver appeared ready to leave the Denver Broncos after the team put him on the block before the 2021 NFL Draft.

There have been practically no offers for the 26-year-old player, and it appeared the Broncos were ready to lower the boom.

That was until recently when it was leaked that an unnamed team is ready to negotiate a deal with the Broncos for the Penn State product.

Per NFL Insider Mike Garafolo, Hamilton was on the verge of being waived before a new twist cropped up.

Several teams have reportedly inquired about Hamilton, compelling them to shelf those plans of waiving him and praying that they can secure sensible trade in exchange.

Hamilton is seen more as a role player but has failed to live up to that billing with the Broncos.

As a rookie, he started in 14 games and managed only 30 receptions for 243 yards to go with two touchdowns.

His sophomore season was not impressive either. He had 28 receptions and had a better 297 yards as well as a touchdown to show.

However, his place on the Broncos roster grew even darker when another former Penn State star in KJ Hamler joined the team via the 2020 NFL Draft.

Hamilton ended up with 23 receptions for 293 yards and two touchdowns that season.

It is clear that Hamilton has become dispensable, and showing his true value could be unearthed if he joins some other NFL team.

As of this writing, it remains unclear which team would be interested in him, but something could emerge in the coming weeks.

The Broncos have already assembled a formidable WR cast that includes Hamler, Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick.

Except for Patrick, all the rest were taken in via the first or second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

With his luck in the Broncos locker room hardly getting any better, all Hamilton can do right now is sit back and wait.

The only thing certain is that if no trade goes down, he will have to find a new NFL team on his own for next season.
