The Chicago Bears seem to be at least entertaining the idea of trading one of their best offensive players. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the NFC North champions were approached by multiple teams regarding running back Jordan Howard at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

Schefter has reported that trade discussions are "ongoing," indicating that the Bears could deal Howard at the right price. The running back led Chicago with 935 rushing yards in the 2018 NFL season.

Howard has been the Bears’ leading rusher in all three of his NFL seasons. He made the Pro Bowl as a rookie in 2016, ranking second in the league with 1,313 yards on the ground.

Howard’s production has decreased in each of the last two years, and the emergence of Tarik Cohen has made him more expendable. Cohen ran for 444 yards on 4.5 yards per carry last season. Howard averaged just 3.7 yards per carry in 2018.

When the Miami Dolphins traded Jay Ajayi in the middle of the 2017 season, they received a fourth-round draft pick in return from the Philadelphia Eagles. The Bears don’t have their first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft after sending it to the Oakland Raiders in the Khalil Mack trade.

With one year left on his contract, Howard is set to make a little more than $2 million in the 2019 season.
