The Dallas Cowboys are likely to part with Vidaunte "Taco" Charlton soon with the 28th pick from the 2017 NFL Draft hardly living up to expectations. The move is foreseen since the Cowboys need to make some roster move decisions, especially with the return of Robert Quinn. The defensive end is returning from a two-game suspension for PEDs.

"I'm not getting into that at all, in any way," Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said of Charlton in a report from Dallas News. "I know there's discussions, we don't get into that of course."

The Cowboys were hopeful that Charlton would have been a valuable contributor in the pass rush. Sadly, that has not happened and the former Michigan standout may unsurprisingly be out soon. His last block was way back during Week Two of 2018.

There is nothing official yet on where Charlton may end up. However, Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones mentioned on 105.3 The Fan that there are ongoing talks between Dallas and the Miami Dolphins. He did not get into specifics.

Charlton has appeared in just 16 games for the Cowboys in his rookie season. He registered just 19 tackles, three sacks, and a lone forced fumble. His performance in his sophomore year hardly improved on that, recording just one tackle in 11 games.

Looking at the depth chart of the Cowboys, Charlton finds himself way behind DeMarcus Lawrence, Tyrone Crawford, Kerry Hyder, and Dorance Armstrong Jr. Also, it appears the Cowboys are pleased with the return of Quinn, further strengthening the belief that the 24-year-old pass rusher will soon be scratched from the Cowboys roster.

"And he really has gotten that (suspension) behind him, unfortunate for him. He's a heck of a young man, that probably a little ironic that happened to him. He has such high character quality. I'm glad he's going to be out there," said team owner Jerry Jones.

Charlton seemed pretty aware that he will be cut soon on social media. With a forgettable stint in Dallas, Charlton will need to work double-time to show he belongs in the NFL. Even if a trade with the Dolphins pushes through, he will need to prove himself. A possible trade scenario may include Minkah Fitzpatrick although Dallas may need to add more assets than just Charlton.
