NFL Week 2 Odds: Cowboys, Steelers, Chargers Become Bigger Underdogs As Kickoffs Near
A few teams have become bigger underdogs in NFL Week 2 as they deal with injuries to some of their most important players. The Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Chargers are on the wrong side of the latest point spread changes.
The Chargers opened Week 2 as a 3.5-point underdog against the Kansas City Chiefs on "Thursday Night Football." Just hours before kickoff, the betting odds at FanDuel Sportsbook favor the Chiefs by 4.5 points. The Chargers will be without receiver Keenan Allen due to a hamstring injury, and cornerback J.C. Jackson is a game-time decision.
Quarterback Dak Prescott won't start for the Cowboys for several weeks, following surgery to repair his fractured thumb. Dallas started Week 2 as a 6.5-point underdog at home against the Cincinnati Bengals. Cincinnati is up to a 7.5-point favorite on the road against the Cowboys and backup quarterback Cooper Rush.
The Bengals are looking for their first win after being upset at home by the Steelers. Even after defeating the defending conference champions, Pittsburgh is a home underdog in Week 2. The New England Patriots are up to 2.5-point favorites in Pittsburgh. The Steelers were only getting a point as of Monday.
Reigning Defensive Player of the Year T.J. Watt won't play for the Steelers because of a torn pectoral muscle. Watt had a sack and an interception in the season opener.
New England and Cincinnati are two of eight winless teams that are favored on the Week 2 schedule. The Los Angeles Rams, Denver Broncos and Green Bay Packers are all double-digit favorites, despite disappointing Week 1 performances.
The Arizona Cardinals are five-point underdogs against the Las Vegas Raiders in a matchup of 0-1 teams. The point spread was just north of a field goal to start Week 2.
The Indianapolis Colts are laying four points on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The line has moved a half-point toward the Jaguars since the week started. Indianapolis needed a 17-point comeback to tie the Houston Texans.
The Detroit Lions and New York Giants are 1.5-point favorites in games with the smallest point spreads on the schedule.
