NFL Week 3 Odds: Cowboys, Packers, Ravens, Texans Are Betting Favorites To Make Playoffs In 2019
It’s only taken two weeks for a few teams to see their playoff odds in the 2019 NFL season shift significantly. Four teams that were preseason underdogs to reach the postseason are now odds-on favorites to still be competing for the Super Bowl in January.
The Green Bay Packers have done the most to improve their playoff odds, becoming nearly 1/3 favorites to either win the NFC North or earn a wild-card berth. The Dallas Cowboys aren’t far behind with -265 playoff odds. Both teams have sole possession of first place after two straight divisional wins.
The Baltimore Ravens are the favorites in the AFC North after a 2-0 start of their own. The defending division champs have nearly 1/2 playoff odds.
The Houston Texans are odds-on playoff favorites after a 1-1 start. Andrew Luck’s retirement is the chief reason for the optimism regarding Houston’s postseason chances.
It will be a shock if the New England Patriots, Los Angeles Rams or Kansas City Chiefs miss the playoffs. They were the best teams in the 2018 season and have started the 2019 season undefeated ahead of Week 3.
In spite of Drew Brees’ injury, the New Orleans Saints are favored to reach the playoffs. The Los Angeles Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns are also postseason favorites with 1-1 records.
The Chicago Bears entered Week 1 as favorites to make the playoffs. That changed with a loss to Green Bay at Soldier Field in the opener. Chicago escaped Denver with a Week 2 victory.
Green Bay is in early command of the NFC North with victories over Chicago and the Minnesota Vikings, both of whom are thought to be legitimate contenders in the division. The Packers are expected to go to 3-0 as 7.5-point favorites over the Broncos in Week 3, according to OddsShark.
Dallas is considered a virtual guarantee to start the season with three straight wins. The Cowboys are laying 22.5 points against the visiting Miami Dolphins.
Unlike Green Bay, Dallas has yet to face their chief competition in the division. The Cowboys and Eagles don’t meet until Week 7.
