Nick Cannon is getting used to being a single father. The 34-year-old told Us Weekly he is finally settling in his New Jersey home, which he moved into earlier this month. Cannon began renting the property shortly after splitting from Mariah Carey in June 2014. The two were married for six years.

Cannon says his kids, twins Moroccan and Monroe, are getting the best of both worlds, splitting time between his pad in the quiet N.J. suburb of Saddle River, and Carey’s famous New York City penthouse. When they’re not living it up in the Big Apple, the 3-year-olds can enjoy some fresh air and plenty of space at their father’s pricey bachelor pad. The $3 million home is reportedly sitting on two acres of land.

“I mean, it’s another area for family,” he told the magazine. “To be able to have a lawn and a lake in the back – stuff like that. I grew up in the projects, so I didn’t really get the opportunity to have any of that growing up. Even in the city. My kids kind of get to experience both worlds. They get Manhattan and a little bit of Jersey.”

Not only do they have a lawn to run around on, but the toddlers get a room of their own. Cannon says his children’s rooms are his favorite in the house and that they’re really enjoying having their own space. So excited, in fact, they each helped to decorate.

“It was kind of cool watching them pick out all their stuff. My daughter’s picking out all the princess stuff. My son’s picking out all the car stuff. So it was fun!” He revealed to Us.

Cannon and Carey have been living separately since their split in June 2014. Their divorce has not yet been finalized. They recently sold the mansion they shared in Bel-Air which was on the market for nearly a year. Cannon is reportedly suing business manager Michael Kane over the sale, citing that he deserves a majority of the funds from the $9 million deal. Kane brushed off the lawsuit, calling it “a desperate act.”

While he waits for his divorce to be finalized, Cannon is reported to have moved on with another woman. A source tells E! News he is currently dating model Jessica White, though the two are trying to keep it on the down low “out of respect for Nick’s family.” The source added that they pair have known each other for a while, maintaining that they were “purely just friends” until Cannon separated from Carey.

“Jessica fully respected Nick’s relationship and would never get in between anything with them. When Nick was going through his breakup Jessica was there for him as a friend,” E!’s source added.

White is said to be working on her music career, which Cannon has been both supportive and instrumental in. The source told E! he was providing her with “some great pointers and direction as she explores her talents.”
