Nick Cannon is open to the idea of rekindling his romance with Mariah Carey.
The comedian appeared on “The Hottee Talk Show” podcast Tuesday and said the “Through the Rain” singer will always be his “baby.” He also admitted she’s the person he would love to reconcile with, if given the chance.
“I guess because I’m a true romantic, I’m a true believer in love and I allow the capsules of love to be where they lie,” he said. “I’m not a timeline dude. I will never have a love like I had with Mariah.”
Cannon said, however, that though he still loves Carey, he understands that what they had might be better left in the past. “It was literally like a fairytale with Mariah so I would rather it just be that way. I appreciate the fantasy because if I tried to go back and it wasn’t the same, I’d be like, ‘Damn, I messed it up,’” he explained.
“But, if I had the opportunity, if it could be the way it was, I’m there,” he added.
He went on to share that he would not get in the way of Carey’s current relationship with Bryan Tanaka, whom Carey has been with for six years. “The dude is amazing with my kids and we have family gatherings and things together so I truly respect it,” Cannon said. “But come on, that’s my fantasy love. That’s somebody that I will always love.”
Finally, he quipped, “Always be my baby,” referring to the title of Carey’s popular 1995 song.
Cannon and Carey were married from 2008 to 2016. Despite their split, they continue to co-parent their 11-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan.
Cannon has also dated several women and had children with them since the end of his marriage to Carey. He has a 5-year-old son named Golden Sagon and an 18-month-old baby with Brittany Bell. In June 2021, he also welcomed another set of twins with Abby De La Rosa — Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir. His child with Alyssa Scott was born a month later. Unfortunately, the boy, called Zen, died when he was 5 months old due to brain cancer.
