Nicki Minaj And Azealia Banks Finally End Feud, Rapper Apologizes On Instagram
After years of ongoing insults and threats, Nicki Minaj and Azealia Banks have finally ended their feud. While the women have yet to come face-to-face, it was “The Big Big Beat” rapper who waved the white flag and reached out to the “Changed It” artist on Instagram.
On Friday, Banks shared several screenshots of her conversation with Minaj, which ended their war of words. The rapper started off her message by telling Minaj that she apologizes for every catty thing she has ever said, before complimenting her. “I really do enjoy your artistry and think you’re so intelligent and clever,” she wrote.
Banks went on to reveal that she believes Minaj is very creative, and thinks the two are similar in many ways. “Now that I’m growing up I’m realizing a lot about what it means to be a strong woman and you’ve showed nothing but strength and perseverance from day one,” she wrote.
The rapper continued, telling Minaj that she deserves everything she has and more. Banks even addressed working with the “Rake It Up” artist’s ex-boyfriend, Safaree Samuels. “Me working with Safaree was not in spite, but because of the never ending pressure the industry puts on us rap girls to be A+. I love your work and only assumed he played a role in your success but after meeting Safaree (who loves you to death) and watching his process I grew to respect you even more.”
“You have my word. That from here on out, I will never say any negative or catty things about you ever again,” Banks stated.
Minaj eventually replied to Banks, encouraging her to focus on the positives. “You’re very talented & very smart. Focus on what really matters from now on,” she wrote.
The “Ice Princess” artist promised that she would follow Minaj’s advice and the two exchanged pleasantries before ending the conversation.
Happy to end their war, Banks admitted that Minaj’s reply made her emotional. “Not gonna lie, I cried a bit when she responded,” she captioned the screenshot.
Banks’ apology to Minaj comes hours after the artist praised the “No Frauds” rapper for being the face of today’s rap generation. The “212” artist admitted that although she has hurled unnecessary insults at Minaj, the rapper has always been authentic.
On Thursday, Banks shared a photo of a tweet, in which a fan stated that Minaj deserves recognition for all of her hard work in the industry. “If ANYONE is going to be heralded as the face of female rap for this generation it’s Nicki, and if ANYONE deserves a number one record AND her very long overdue Grammy win, it’s Nicki,” she wrote.
“Nicki absolutely must be first in line as she has set the tone for this new female rap archetype. I have LOADS of respect for this woman’s hustle, drive and determination. She deserves to win FIRST,” she added.
This is not the first time Banks squashed an ongoing feud. Over the summer, the rapper made amends with Iggy Azalea after years of fighting with one another. The Australian rapper reached out to the New York born artist, and the two were able to put the drama behind them.
Although she may not be besties with the women she used to feud with, it seems as if Banks is interested in taking a step back from the drama, at least for the moment.
