Nicki Minaj Reveals Why She Didn't Attend Met Gala: 'They Want You To Get Vaccinated'
Nicki Minaj is not yet ready to get the COVID-19 vaccine and even the Met Gala cannot convince her to get jabbed.
The 38-year-old rapper took to Twitter on Monday evening to reveal that she didn't attend the 2021 Met Gala event because of the vaccine mandate. She also noted that if she would ever get vaccinated, it won't be for the fashion event.
"They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. if I get vaccinated it won't for the Met," Minaj wrote. "It'll be once I feel I've done enough research. I'm working on that now."
"In the meantime my loves, be safe," she added. "Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips your head & face. Not that loose one."
The post left social media users divided.
While a user wrote, "Good news! Doctors already did that for you. Go get vaxxed. You're being selfish and irresponsible," another user supported Minaj, saying, "That's a good call. This vaccine is brand-new so it pays to be cautious and wait for some research to come out."
One person said it was "the blogs that drag this tho I can see it now." Minaj replied, "Who cares what blogs gon do? Y'all always worried about blogs. This my real f--n life. They can choke."
A fan said their father had a blood clot in his left eye and ended up blind after getting vaccinated. The rapper retweeted the post and wrote, "I'm sorry babe. Omg."
Minaj also shared the story of one of her cousins.
"My cousin in Trinidad won't get the vaccine cuz his friend got it & became impotent," the rapper wrote. "His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it & make sure you're comfortable with ur decision, not bullied."
The rapper also called out media outlets for using misleading headlines. The "Queen" star alleged some publications were deliberately spreading lies against her.
"Pls show me where I said I'm 'worried about' anything. Yes. I'm glad you guys get to see how the media REALLY works," she tweeted. "I'll have them contacted along with others."
The rapper was last seen in the "Expensive" music video, which was released in August last year.
