Nicky Hilton Celebrates ‘Fairy Tale’ Bridal Shower
Socialite and author Nicky Hilton plans to marry European banking heir James Rothschild in mid-July in London. The 31-year-old author of “365 Style” celebrated her “fairy tale” bridal shower with family and friends at Hillcrest Country Club in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
The only person missing was her elder sister Paris Hilton, according to E! Online. Paris was traveling in Ibiza for work. But she dressed the fairy-tale theme, even hundreds of miles away, to show support to her younger sister.
The bridal shower was co-hosted by the bride-to-be’s mom Kathy Hilton and Nicole Richie’s mother, Brenda. Nicky looked ethereal in a white ensemble that featured a lace top and matching A-line skirt. She paired the ensemble with strappy silver heels. Her long blond tresses were left loose over her shoulders. The Hilton Hotel heiress’ makeup palette consisted of glossy pink lips and smoky eyes.
The décor consisted of a larger-than-life fairy tale book that was erected as a prop. It featured the words: “Once Upon A Time - Nicky and James Rothschild's Love Story” on one page and a passage from the "Cinderella" story on the other. The Cinderella theme was also seen on the entrance of the luncheon room, with the doorway decorated from floor to ceiling like a carriage. White and purple flowers adorned the luncheon table along with replicas of Cinderella’s castle and customized Hershey’s Kisses with the couple’s names on it. Guests at the bash were serenaded by a musician.
There was also a multi-tiered cake in the form of Cinderella’s castle. The gathering included friends like Farrah Aldjufrie, Nancy Davis, Kyle Richards -- her aunt of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” fame -- and Lauren King. Hilton also received some racy gifts.
Rothschild, the 30-year-old banking heir, proposed to Nicky on Lake Como in Italy last August. They first met in 2011 at the wedding of Formula One heiress Petra Ecclestone and billionaire businessman James Stunt. Nicky intends to take her husband’s name after their wedding, dropping her famous last name, according to Fox News Magazine.
The designer posted a series of pictures of the bash on Instagram. She didn’t divulge any details of her wedding gown designer. In an interview with Avenue Magazine for its June issue, she said she was getting a custom couture dress designed for her. Nicky added that she zeroed in on the gown after seeing sketches of 15 dresses.
