Is Nina Dobrev Dating Chris Evans? Ian Somerhalder’s Ex Spotted At Daytona 500 With 'Captain America' [PHOTOS]

Are they or aren’t they? Actress Nina Dobrev was spotted spending time with “Captain America” film star Chris Evans at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Daytona 500 in Florida this weekend, making fans of “The Vampire Diaries” star wonder if she and he could be Hollywood’s newest A-list couple.

It wouldn't be good news for Dobrev fans rooting for her to get back together with fellow “TVD” actor Ian Somerhalder, but it could be strictly platonic with Evans. In contrast to what some cropped versions of the image show, Just Jared is reporting that Dobrev, 25, and Evans, 32, did not pose alone at the Daytona International Speedway sporting event but were in a larger shot with NASCAR racer Carl Edwards. Still, there's another image of the duo circulating showing them posing alone and smiling at each other.

While there is no word why Dobrev was at the event (other than her self-admitted love for the sport on Twitter), Evans was invited to the annual celebration to serve as its grand marshal in honor of the upcoming release of his Marvel film “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” “[It’s] a little nerve-wracking being here,” Evans told Fox Sports before kicking off the race. “Being here, you realize how important this is and how much this is cherished and valued by so many people,” said Evans, who later confessed he was nervous to be filling the coveted role, saying, “I hope I don’t mess this up!”

Despite any confirmation regarding the nature of Dobrev and Evan's relationship, fans of the actors have already begun sharing their approval of their new possible romance on social media. “They are so hot. I ship them,” posted one fan Sunday. “NINA DOBREV AND CHRIS EVANS IS THIS REAL LIFE THEY'RE PERF [sic],” agreed Twitter user @gigalatta. “Nina and Chris are the most perfect people ever,” said another fan. “People are already shipping Chris Evans and Nina Dobrev? Why am I not surprised?” posted Twitter user @SoniaRose1 Monday.

Dobrev was last rumored to be dating another film star, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” actor Liam Hemsworth. Reports of their alleged romance, which was fueled by a photo of the two spending time together at an Atlanta bar earlier this month, followed rumors that Dobrev was rekindling her three-year romance with her “TVD” co-star Somerhalder, 35.

Evans was last rumored to be dating “She’s Out of My League“ actress Alice Eve. The alleged couple, who are currently starring in the upcoming romance film “1:30 Train,” were last spotted together enjoying a date night at John’s Restaurant in New York City’s East Village in December.
