Nina Dobrev Dating Derek Hough Confirmed? ‘Vampire Diaries’ Star Exchanges Tweets With Ex-Boyfriend Ian Somerhalder [PHOTOS & VIDEO]

It’s true! … Maybe. After rumors started circulating of a sexy new romance between “Vampire Diaries” star Nina Dobrev and “Dancing With The Stars” pro Derek Hough, sources are now saying that the pair are definitely dating. Unfortunately reps for both Dobrev and Hough haven’t confirmed the steamy new relationship.

“[Nina] was hanging a lot with Derek’s sister Julianne,” an insider revealed to Us Magazine of the alleged couple. “Then she fell for him.”

Another source dished to Wetpaint.com that the pair have “been hanging out more on a one-on-one basis, lately.” The source continued to the site that Dobrev and Hough “recently have started dating,” but are just “having fun together for now … that’s it.”

The scoop on the new relationship comes a couple days after Nina Dobrev took to Instagram to congratulate 28-year-old Derek Hough on his first Emmy win on Sunday, Sept. 22. The 24-year-old, who couldn’t attend the award show due to filming obligations, posted a couple messages towards her potential beau on the social media site.

In the first post, Dobrev wrote: “@Derekhough !!!!!!!! #EMMYWINNER I cant express in 140 characters how unbelievably excited+incredibly proud I am of you. You deserve this :)”

She followed up with a second photo featuring not only Derek Hough, but Julianne Hough as well: “@juleshough You looked absolutely STUNNING last night ! @derekhough I wish I wasnt filming so I could have been there to celebrate w/u guys!”

Dobrev concluded her Instagram posting frenzy with: "@derekhough Those of us touched by your light got to watch you brighten up the rest of the world. Keep shining!"

Derek Hough responded to Dobrev on Twitter with a simple, “You’re the best babe.”

If the Twitter/Instagram exchange between the two celebrities wasn’t suspicious enough, a video taken by a fan in early September hinted towards the pair possibly dating. The video shows Dobrev and Hough watching a magician at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood … with their fingers interlocked.

Nina Dobrev was previously dating her “Vampire Diaries” co-star Ian Somerhalder. The couple split in early spring, but has kept friendly despite initial reports of a strained and awkward reunion.

Their latest interaction on social media left “Nian”-shippers hopeful that the two would rekindle their romance. The actress had congratulated her former beau on winning the Visionaries Award, posting that it was “amazing.” Somerhalder responded to her post by writing,”Awww! Thank you NINA – thank you for the love&support. Truly. Xo Ian.”
