Nintendo Switch Pro: Price, Release Date, Upgraded Internals, Nvidia DLSS Support And Other Details Leaked
KEY POINTS
- New details about the Nintendo Switch pro have been leaked
- It is rumored to use a new SoC that would boost its CPU and GPU performance
- It is said to produce higher resolution images when in docked mode or used on 4K TVs
A new set of information about the rumored Nintendo Switch Pro has surfaced online, revealing its specs, price and release window.
A new report from Bloomberg claimed that the rumored Nintendo Switch Pro would use a new Nvidia SoC with DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) support. The said system-on-chip is anticipated to deliver improvements to the CPU and GPU performance of the more powerful hybrid console. Apparently, Nintendo will utilize Nvidia's DLSS to achieve higher resolution images when the console is in docked mode or used on 4K TVs.
"DLSS support will require new code to be added to games, so it'll primarily be used to improve graphics on upcoming titles, said the people, including multiple game developers," the report said. This seemingly aligns with earlier rumors that there would be a select list of games exclusive to the Nintendo Switch Pro model.
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 20 series is the first lineup to house the DLSS. It uses neural networks to reconstruct game images at a higher quality in real-time. "Different versions of the technology have variously relied on the GPU's tensor cores and training the AI on specific games, but the upshot is that you can render a game at a lower traditional resolution and get a much higher output with minimal performance penalty," The Verge explained.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that the rumored Nintendo Switch Pro will feature a 7-inch 720p Samsung OLED display. "The latest model will also come with 4K ultra-high-definition graphics when paired with TVs, they said. That could intensify a longstanding complaint of developers, who have struggled with the difference in resolution between handheld and TV modes and now face a bigger gap between the two," it said.
As for the price of the Nintendo Switch Pro, the report said that it is anticipated to sell between $349 and $399. The rumored hybrid console is reportedly arriving by the end of 2021. It is worth noting that as of press time, Nintendo has not confirmed that it is working on the Switch Pro. The Japanese gaming giant has repeatedly denied that it would release a new Switch version soon.
