  • Former Apple Arcade exclusive "Oceanhorn 2" appears to be headed to the Switch
  • Developers released a newsletter hinting at their apparent move
  • Another alleged "Zelda" clone is on its final closed beta stage

The "Zelda"-like "Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas," developed by Cornfox & Bros., has been a regular fixture for smartphones. It's also been successful on the Switch so that when the developers announced they were making a sequel, fans were rightfully delighted.

According to Nintendo Life, the sequel "Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm" was such a big title for Apple Arcade. The game was exclusive to the service for a while. It was even used on the subscription-based app's launch to paying customers. Switch fans, however, has since been waiting for the game to land on the mobile console but to no avail.

All that appears to be set to change since Cornfox & Brothers have sent a newsletter to its fanbase. It appears that the Switch will finally get the sequel.

"It's been a long time since Hero took a holiday, and on August 11th, we're sending him off to Kyoto to relax and meet some friends," the letter read. "What will he do there? Well, he's keeping things under wraps, but rumor has it that they're planning a surprise."

Many fans previously criticized "Oceanhorn" for seemingly pulling off elements from "Zelda: Breath of the Wild," but because of the latter's success, the former cannot be faulted. It's not as if the only one bearing familiar properties from the series. Another alleged clone, as per MXDWN, the open-world action RPG "Genshin Impact," is on its final closed beta starting July 2, 2020.

"Genshin Impact" takes players on a quest to find their missing sibling, which also leads to the player unlocking hidden mysteries of the in-game world. It features element-based combat and exploration, which is part of its selling point. There are seven cities that are in the game's Teyvat world, but two of them, Mondstadt and Liyue, will be open to explore during the closed beta.

Unlike the Nintendo Switch, "Genshin Impact" is also headed to the PlayStation 4 — it will be playable on the console during the final closed beta. Reports said that the game has also been tested on all the platforms it will be released to. The game will be receiving its official release date later this year.
