Nintendo said it will hold an E3 event on June 11 at 10 a.m. EDT at the Los Angeles Convention Center, where the console maker will provide details on upcoming games for the Wii U.

There's been no news about any upcoming EA releases for the Wii U. However, about two weeks ago, it was widely reported that EA wouldn't make any Wii U games. Then, on Tuesday, EA CFO Blake Jorgenson seemingly reversed EA's stance and made statements to the contrary at the Stifel Nicolaus 2013 Internet, Media and Communications Conference.

"We are building titles for the Nintendo consoles but not anywhere near as many as we are for PS and Xbox," Jorgenson said.

Support in the form of EA Games would likely provide a sales boost for Wii U consoles. This author hopes Nintendo's E3 event will include information about at least a new version of "Metroid," which hasn't seen a release since "Metroid: Other M" in 2010 for the Wii, and the last official "Metroid" announcement was made at E3 in 2009, when Nintendo took the wraps off "Metroid: Other M." Perhaps Nintendo is saving its "Metroid" reveal for the big show less than three weeks from now.

What do you want Nintendo to announce at its E3 event on June 11? Do you think that EA games would make the console more popular than it already is? Which EA games would you want to play on the Wii U? Are you also hoping for a "Metroid" announcement? Sound off in the comments below.
