Nintendo wins patent appeal against Anascape
Nintendo won a patent appeal on Tuesday in a fight with Anascape over technology used in video game controllers.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit issued a ruling that reversed a decision by a Texas district court. The Texas court earlier ruled that Nintendo had infringed on an Anascape patent, was required to stop using the technology and was required to pay damages.
The game controllers in question were used in some of Nintendo's popular Wii, WaveBird and GameCube controllers.
Microsoft Corp had also been sued by Anascape but settled.
The case is Anascape Ltd v. Nintendo of America Inc and was on appeal from the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Case no. 06-158.
