N.J. Mayor’s Home Raided By FBI: Tony Mack Says He Didn’t Violate Public’s Trust
The home of Tony Mack, mayor of Trenton, N.J., was raided by FBI agents in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The Times of Trenton reported that authorities didn't reveal any details about the raid. It also added that the 46-year-old mayor has been accused of corruption and cronyism since taking office nearly two years ago. During that time there have been mass layoffs among city staff because of budget woes and lawsuits against the city.
Mack has denied any involvement in wrongdoing.
We have not violated the public trust in any way, nor have I violated any of my public duties and I have no further comment on this matter, he told the paper.
FBI spokeswoman Barbara Woodruff confirmed with the media that a raid took place at 2 a.m. EDT, but she didn't say what if anything agents took from Mack's home.
