Nokia Flagship Phone Nokia 8 Supreme With 5.7-Inch QHD Display, Snapdragon 821/835 Processor To Debut At MWC 2017?
At CES 2017, Nokia quietly outed its flagship smartphone and even told the people who have seen it to keep the high-end device’s appearance at the event a secret. However, a YouTuber has got out of his way to secretly film the handset, which is debuting as Nokia 8 or Nokia Supreme, and leaked the video online.
According to the leaker, the Nokia 8 Supreme is something to watch out for because it comes in two processor variants. There’s the top-specced version with the Snapdragon 835 chipset and another toned-down but still great variant with the Snapdragon 821 processor.
The leaker with the YouTube channel Total Tech also disclosed the specs sheet of Nokia’s flagship smartphone. Based on the list of specifications, the Nokia 8 Supreme is launching with a 5.7-inch Super-AMOLED Quad HD display. The two processor variants will likely come with different RAM sizes as well. The 835 will have 6GB of RAM, while the 821 will house 4GB of RAM.
When it comes to internal storage, there will be two options for users to choose from. The base model will sport 64GB of onboard memory. On the other hand, the top-specced model will launch with 128GB of memory. Aside from the already huge storage options, Nokia has also included a micro SD card slot that accommodates up to 256GB of additional memory.
Another aspect of the handset that will surely click with consumers is the camera technology. Nokia used to equip its high-end Lumia smartphones with very good cameras. For example, the Lumia 1020 “PureView” featured an astounding 41-megapixel shooter. The Finnish company is bringing back this kind of technology into its upcoming flagship device.
The Nokia 8 Supreme will come with a 24-megapixel back camera that protrudes just like the 1020’s PureView lens. The leaker said in a separate video that the Snapdragon 835 variant has EIS 3.0. EIS or electronic image stabilization is a technology that enhances images using electronic processing. Both Qualcomm and Nokia are claiming that EIS 3.0 will enable the rear camera to record the smoothest videos on a smartphone to date. Up front, the Nokia handset will feature a 12-megapixel selfie snapper.
Finally, the flagship device will launch with LED notification lights, dual front-facing speakers and a Nokia logo up front that per the leaker lights up while the device is booting up. Nokia is expected to make the Nokia 8 Supreme public at the Mobile World Congress on Feb. 26, according to SlashGear.
The leak comes after HMD Global announced the mid-range Nokia 6 smartphone that will be up for grabs in China starting next week. The device will be exclusively sold by Chinese website JD.com. As of late, 250,000 customers have shown interest in purchasing Nokia’s first comeback phone, as first reported by GSM Arena.
