North Austin Police Investigate Suspicious Death; Victim Slumped Over Steering Wheel, Driver's Side Window Shattered
A man's body was found in a truck in the middle of a North Austin street Monday morning in a death the Austin Police Department is labeling suspicious.
Several people saw the body, identified as a Hispanic man in his 30s, inside an idle truck in the middle of the street on West Lola Drive, near U.S. 183 and Interstate 35 in North Austin, around 6 a.m. Monday local time, the Austin American-Statesman reported.
The witnesses called 911 and Austin police who arrived on the scene saw the body slumped over the steering wheel of the vehicle, which had the driver's side window shattered, according to KXAN. The station said the broken glass may indicate the unidentified man was a shooting victim.
The Austin Police Department has yet to comment on that theory, saying they are still investigating the suspicious death.
Anyone with information on the death is asked to call the Austin Police Department's tipline at 512-377-3588, according to KVUE.
The man's death led North Austin to trend locally on Twitter.
