North Carolina Mother Alleges Boyfriend Beat 6-Month-Old Baby To Death, Court Documents Reveal

A North Carolina mom has alleged that her boyfriend beat her child to death and left the body on the roadside before fleeing to California with her, court documents recently revealed.

The North Carolina police are currently investigating the murder of 6-month-old Nevaeh Smith, and the Guilford County court documents indicated the couple “unlawfully, willfully and intentionally concealed the death of Nevaeh Smith, failed to notify a law enforcement authority of her death, and did secretly bury/dispose of Smith after her death,” reported NBC affiliate news outlet WCNC.

The police have not traced the remains of the baby, but arrested her mother and her boyfriend in connection with the murder.

The investigation began on March 23 after Smith, who was from Greensboro, was reported missing. The investigators found out the infant was last seen in the middle of December and received information, which led them to believe she was dead.

The infant’s mother Deneshia Murray, 22, and her boyfriend Jalen Wall, 23, were arrested on March 24 and March 26, respectively, on charges of concealing the death of the infant, Fox-affiliated WGHP reported. The investigators believe the alleged murder happened between Dec.18, 2020, and Dec.20, 2020.

The court documents shed more light on the child's death. Arrest warrants indicated both Wall and Murray are expected to receive additional second-degree murder charges against them.

Murray alleged Wall killed the baby, dumped her body on the side of a road and then the couple drove to California, according to her bond documents, WCNC reported. She reportedly told the investigators she does not remember where they left the dead baby. Murray’s next court date is April 26.

Wall’s bond documents indicated the baby was beaten to death. “He allegedly beat 6-month-old Nevaeh Smith to death and dropped her body out along the highway on the way to Asheville, then left the state for Colorado,” the documents mentioned.

His next court appearance is May 3. Greensboro police said they are working with investigators from multiple agencies to locate the remains of the deceased infant.

In a similar incident, a South Carolina couple has been arrested in connection with the death of a 9-year-old boy who was reportedly beaten to death. The police arrested Tasha McFadden and her boyfriend Bobby Fulton Jr. for allegedly abusing McFadden’s son.
