North West Baptized In Jerusalem; Khloe Kardashian Named Godmother: Report [PHOTOS]
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s daughter North West was baptized in Jerusalem Monday following the family's five-day visit to Kardashian's ancestral home, Armenia. The family then traveled to Israel on a private plane, People magazine reported.
“They flew [into Jerusalem] especially for [the baptism],” an insider told the mag. “They knew it was close to Armenia and it was always a dream to come to Jerusalem. There’s an Armenian quarter and they did it at this old beautiful church. It was epic. So beautiful.” The religious ceremony was “so special,” another insider told E! News.
Khloe Kardashian was named godmother of the 22-month-old toddler during the ceremony that took place at the Cathedral of St. James. The church is in the historic Armenian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem and dates back to the 4th century A.D., the Jerusalem Post reported.
For the occasion, North and her father wore matching white outfits. Khloe wrote black from head-to-toe and Kim donned a champagne-and-gray pleated dress.
The “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” stars and West then had an “intimate” dinner with Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat at Mona Restaurant, E! News reported. They reportedly loved the food and were excited to try different dishes. But Jerusalem isn’t their final stop. The Kardashian-West crew plans to head to the Dead Sea next, the site added.
Kim and Khloe’s trip to Aremina marked the 100th anniversary of the Aremenia Genocide where nearly 1.5 million Armenia’s were killed. After a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, the sisters promised to spread awareness of the massacre.
It’s a promise they’ve kept, for now. “Kim and I paying respects at the Armenian genocide memorial,” Khloe wrote Friday on Instagram and Twitter. “We must embrace pain and burn it as fuel for our journey as a country.”
