A 10-year-old was fatally shot and at least three others were injured in a shooting on a street in northeast Washington D.C. on Monday.

According to officials, four black men got out of a black Infiniti SUV at 8 p.m. EDT and fired multiple shots into a crowd of 15 to 20 people before fleeing the scene. The men were wearing masks and shot indiscriminately at people.

Officials said the quadruple shooting happened in the 300 block of 53rd Street and they found four persons suffering from gunshot wounds when they reached the scene. All the victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where the girl was pronounced dead. The condition of the other three victims is unknown as of now.

"They came out in this community without regard to human life and opened fire. We have to stand up as a community to say no more. A 10-year-old girl lost her life here today. All of the hopes and dreams that her family had for her are gone. We have to be outraged. We have to work with the police. You have to work with us to remove illegal firearms from our city,” D.C. Police Assistant Chief Chanel Dickerson said, Fox 5 reported.

Officials are checking the CCTV camera footages.

At a press conference held by the police, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser urged people with any information about the shooting or the suspects to call D.C. police at 202-727-9099.
