NTT DoCoMo Inc, Japan's biggest mobile phone carrier, said on Wednesday it is considering new pricing systems that would cut calling charges and raise handset prices.

DoCoMo will study a recommendation from Japan's telecommunications regulator to stop subsidising new handset prices with higer calling charges, a DoCoMo spokesman said. But nothing concrete has been decided, he said.

DoCoMo plans to cut calling charges by 20 to 30 percent by year end while raising handset prices, the Nikkei business daily said.

KDDI Corp, Japan's No. 2 mobile service provider, plans to announce a new pricing model this week that cuts calling charges and raises handset prices.
