NYC Getting ‘First Gay Hotel’
Opening this fall, THE OUT NYC claims to be the first hotel and entertainment complex in New York City targeted specifically at attracting LGBT tourists and the local community.
There are several other hotels in the city that could be loosely referred to as gay hotels, but managing partner Ian Reisner of Parkview Developers, the company behind the project, says what makes THE OUT NYC a gay hotel is the comfort level and tailored amenities for the community.
The urban resort, situated on 42nd Street between 10th and 11th avenues in New York's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, will include a 105-room straight-friendly boutique hotel, a courtyard wet zone, a wellness center, an 11,000 square foot XL NIGHTCLUB, a café and a restaurant called KITCHEN.
First to open will be the XL NIGHTCLUB in the early fall. The club is a partnership with John Blair and Beto Sutter, who gained attention for creating the Saturday night party at The Roxy, a famed NYC gay disco that closed its doors in 2007. The new club will feature an LED wall, a stage, and two dance floors. It will be the first gay dance club to open in the city in 15 years.
The hotel and restaurants are scheduled to open sometime in 2012. Parkview officials are hoping to capitalize on New York's recent decision to sanction gay marriages.
