NYPD Suspects Upper East Side Murder Caught On Video Was Drug-Related Shooting
Following a shooting that took place in broad daylight on the Upper East Side, the New York City Police Department suspects the murder could have been drug-related due to what officers found in the SUV where its occupants were attacked.
Police are searching for a suspect following the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Chris Delinois from Bergen Beach, Brooklyn. Delinois and three people were sitting in a Honda HRV on the tree-lined street with multimillion-dollar homes on Friday when the incident took place.
The shooting, which was caught on video, took place on East 95th St. near Park Avenue and shows a man looking through the open hatchback of the vehicle when he appears surprised by something.
He then takes off running, and the suspect is seen exiting the backseat of the vehicle on the driver’s side. He then fires the gun into the vehicle.
The suspect is then seen jumping back into the SUV, where he reportedly fired more shots. At some point, Delinois was struck in the stomach. The driver of the vehicle eventually drove off but crashed into a parked car.
The suspect then exited the vehicle once again and took off in the opposite direction. Delinois was transported to the hospital but died from his injuries.
Upon investigating the homicide, police found large quantities of marijuana in the back seat of the vehicle. The amount led the NYPD to suspect the incident was a drug deal gone bad.
The suspect has been described as a Black male with a slim build that wore a black hooded sweatshirt and jacket, fitted navy blue sweatpants, dark sneakers, and a black face mask.
Following the shooting, the suspect ran toward Lexington Avenue and appeared to travel uptown. Anyone with information regarding the crime is asked to contact investigators.
