Occupy Wall Street Protestor Arrested on Sex Assault Charges
An Occupy Wall Street volunteer was arrested in connection with two sex assaults at Zuccotti Park.
Toney Iketubsin, 26, from Crown Heights was arrested for sexually assaulting two women during his stay in the camp, a law enforcement official told the Wall Street Journal.
An 18-year-old girl from Massachusetts told the New York Police Department that she had met Iketubsin after she left her tent following an argument with her friend whom she had been sharing the tent with. Iketubsin offered her to share his tent as he had to go to work in the park's makeshift kitchen.
The girl obliged to the offer and went to sleep in his tent. She told the police that after some time she had found Iketubsin in the tent, trying to remove her pants, and when she asked him to stop, he raped her.
In an earlier incident, a 17-year-old girl told police that on Oct. 25 she found Iketubosin in her tent and ignored her repeated requests to leave. Then he groped her until she pushed him away.
Iketubosin is charged with third-degree sexual abuse in this case, while charges in the case involving 18-year-old Massachusetts girl are pending.
Iketubosin told police he had been living in the camp for more than a week and working in its kitchen.
