Offset was questioned by police officers in Beverly Hills, California, while on Instagram Live over the weekend. Following the incident, the rapper thanked fans for their support.

Offset was on Instagram Live inside his car on Saturday when police officers approached him over allegations that he waved a gun from his car. Police said the incident happened in an area of a pro-Trump rally, NBC News reported.

"Artist and philanthropist Offset was detained by the Beverly Hills Police Department following an attack by aggressive Trump supporters. He was released shortly thereafter," Offset's rep, Derrian Perry, said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight.

"Offset thanks his fans for their support and wishes everyone peace and safety during these trying times," he continued. "He encourages everyone to get out and vote because nothing changes if nothing changes."

Perry added that Offset complied while guns were drawn on him and received conflicting directions from the officers. The rep also noted that Offset's goal was only to encourage younger people to vote.

In the video, an officer asked Offset to turn off his car. The rapper refused and said he won't move his hands from the steering wheel because the police had guns.

Offset explained that people followed him because they are his fans. The rapper also mentioned in the clip that the officers just watched someone strike his car with a flag. He was eventually pulled out of his car, shocking the roughly 30,000 people who were watching him on Instagram Live.

"It’s not about offset being a celebrity it’s about an unlawful arrest. It’s about no probable cause! It’s about respect and my rights. Someone SEEN something? Excuse me. PROVE IT. Until then I’m not getting out my car foh cus if I was here rallying nobody would be bothering me!" one tweeted.

"No matter how you feel about Offset, his arrest is alarming and absolutely terrifying. Money and fame doesn’t insulate you from how the state perceives Blackness," another wrote.

"Regardless to how you feel about Offset it is wild that the cops are trying to arrest him after his vehicle was attacked. I really hope he sues the hell out of them and their badges are snatched," a third social media user wrote.

The Beverly Hills Police Department has denied arresting Offset, calling reports about the rapper being taken into custody "inaccurate." Police stressed that they detained him for questioning.

Another man named Marcelo Almanzar who was with Offset was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a loaded firearm in public. Almanzar is Cardi B's cousin.
