Ohio Murder-Suicide: Man Shoots Wife Before Killing Self After Domestic Dispute
In an apparent case of murder-suicide, a couple was found dead in Ohio on Tuesday.
The husband and wife were found by police officers at their home in Washington Township, a statement from the Warren County Sheriff's Office said.
Officers were called to the scene of the incident and found the man dead in the driveway of the residence with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The man was identified as Brian Colbert aged 39, according to Fox19.
When officers entered the residence, they found Colbert's wife inside suffering from a gunshot wound. According to the police release, the woman, identified as Sarah Colbert, 34, was treated by medics at the scene and then transported to a local hospital by helicopter.
However, she died at the hospital, officials said Thursday.
While an investigation is underway into the incident, officers believe that the shooting took place following a domestic dispute.
Other details about the incident are yet to be revealed. Authorities did not reveal how they learnt about the incident and who called to inform them about the shooting.
Last month, in a murder-suicide case in Kentucky, a man fatally shot his partner before turning the gun on himself. The two people who died in the incident were identified as 39-year-old Carmelita Lashaun Wright and 43-year-old Lorenzo Andrew Simpson.
Sheriff's deputies in Franklin County said they were called to a home on Tamworth Lane and upon arrival, discovered the bodies. The couple's child was in the house when the shooting incident took place but was unharmed.
Simpson shot Wright multiple times before taking his own life, the coroner's autopsy report said at the time.
"She's the true victim," Sheriff Chris Quire said of the girl. "This is something she's going to have to live with for the rest of her life, and it's unfortunate," he added. Quire said the two victims were not married but were living together.
In another recent incident, a California man shot his co-worker after he learnt about his affair with his wife. The incident led to a standoff between the police and the shooter.
After hours of the standoff, San Mateo police found the 42-year-old man dead by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities said the motive of the murder-suicide was an extra-marital affair. The suspect and the victim had relations with the former's wife.
