A Newton Falls, Ohio, police officer shot two aggressive dogs, killing one of them.

According to local reports, police responded to the scene Sunday morning after receiving reports about a pack of four aggressive dogs running loose. When the officers were searching for the dogs, one of the canines attacked a young woman walking near the intersection of River and East Broad streets.

When an officer was responding to the dog bite victim, he noticed that a man was cornered by the canines. When the officer went to assist the man, a dog aggressively charged at the officer who immediately fired at the canine before it could attack him. The dog died on the spot.

Suddenly, another dog charged at the same officer following which he shot the canine in the leg. The large brown dog immediately ran away.

The dog owner has since retrieved all the canines. Newton Falls Police and the Trumbull County Animal Warden’s Office were investigating the incident. Meanwhile, the woman, who was bitten by the dog, was treated and released from the hospital.

The incident comes less than a month after a police officer fatally shot a dog after it attacked a woman in the same state. Police responded to a home after receiving information of a dog attack. Joel Peters told the responding officers that two dogs got into his yard and started to attack his pet canine. The dog then started attacking a female neighbor who tried to break it up. When the officers arrived at the backyard, one of the dogs approached an officer, barking. The officer then shot the canine in the head. The dog bite victim was rushed to a nearby hospital with several bite wounds on her body.
